Is it mandatory to set the dbrecovery device class for Tivoli Storage Manager DB backup?
Cause
Specifying the device class in the backup db command syntax will still fail with the following error:
SERVER1>backup db type=full devclass=FILEDEVA
ANR2590E BACKUP DB failed - SET DBRECOVERY command has not been issued.
Answer
To prepare the system for database backups, it is necessary to specify the device class to be used within the dbrecovery. As noted in the Tivoli Storage Manager manual, issue the following command to set the devclass for Tivoli Storage Manager DB backup:
set dbrecovery <sequential_access_deviceclassname>
