Unable to save data-push reports on Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8

Troubleshooting


Problem

After upgrading Microsoft Windows 7 machines from Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 to 8, you cannot save data-push reports in IBM Rational ClearQuest Web.

Symptom

After upgrading Windows 7 machines from Internet Explorer version 7 to version 8, you cannot save Crystal Reports data-push reports using ClearQuest Web and the option Export this report. This happens regardless of the file format chosen.

Diagnosing The Problem

The issue is related to the use of Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7 machines. The same report can be saved with different Windows and Internet Explorer configurations or alternate browsers such as Mozilla Firefox.

Resolving The Problem

  • Change the security levels to Medium in the security tab in Internet Explorer and enable the "Automatic Prompting for File Downloads" in the custom options.

  • Alternatively, the Information Bar can be disabled by following the steps detailed by Microsoft in the following help article under "Can I turn off the Information Bar?"

  • Change the ClearQuest Web the site configuration to use the hostname, or the fully
    qualified hostname.
