Question & Answer
Question
Can I do zone control activities using the switches in my SAN? What agents do I need? What types of zone members are supported?
Answer
The following table shows the capability of several common Fibre Channel switch vendors as they relate to the zone control functions provided by IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.x. Limitations may be due to the capabilities of the switches or the interfaces they use to execute commands. Some activities available with a switch's own management application may not be available using IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

1 - Cisco VSANs must be configured in basic mode (not enhanced mode) to collect zoning information or make changes. |
2 - Using IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center to create empty zones or activate zone sets that have empty zones is not supported. |
