Scheduled reports are sending duplicate emails

Troubleshooting

Problem

One, or more scheduled reports are sending multiple emails to the user. The report is scheduled to run only once, yet the user is receiving more than one email with the report results attached.

Cause

What is happening for scheduled reports is a feature of Maximo Birt reports. BIRT executes a report in two phases called RUN and RENDER. RUN phase collects all data; RENDER phase arranges all data to show the report in correct format.

In RUN phase if a SQL takes more than 15 minutes to execute or if the RENDER phase takes more than 15 minutes to execute then Maximo thinks that the report thread is stuck due to some reason and reschedules the report. Fortunately, the 15 minutes is configurable.

Diagnosing The Problem

If multiple emails are being received for a single scheduled report, this is the most likely cause.

Resolving The Problem

You can increase this value to accommodate for your expected longest run time by following the steps below:

    Goto -> System Configuration/Platform Configuration/Cron Task Setup

    Select -> REPORTLOCKRELEASE cron task

    Change Parameter-> LOCKINTERVALINMINUTES

    Save changes

    Restart the maximo Application server to ensure new value is activated
