db2evmonfmt tool for reading event monitor data missing from a DB2 installation in a Unix environment

Troubleshooting

Problem

db2evmonfnt.java (db2evmonfmt tool is provided as Java source code) missing under $INSTHOME/sqllib/java/jdbc directory in a DB2 Unix installation

Symptom

~/sqllib/samples/java exists but jdbc directory is missing in the directory structure which should contain db2evmonfnt.java source code

Cause

~/sqllib/samples/java does not contain jdbc directory (which includes db2evmonfnt.java) in a TYPICAL DB2 installation, it is part of the "Base Application Development Tools".

Resolving The Problem

During the initial install using the db2setup GUI, select a custom install and choose to install the "Base application development tools" option.

If the DB2 server product is already installed, it can be added post-install by using one of the following options:

1) The command line installer (db2_install). When prompted which product to install, select "CLIENT" and install it into the existing DB2 installation directory.

2) DB2 Setup wizard (db2setup) into the same directory as the existing install. Select the custom install and add the "Base application development tools" option.

db2iupdt will need to be issued against the instance in order for the new files to be reflected (db2setup will do this automatically if the instance is currently down).
