Troubleshooting


Problem

Cognos may start via Cognos Configuration but does not when started via script or command line. Cogserver.log file shows : DPR-DPR-1035 Dispatcher detected an error. CM-CFG-5084 An error occurred while reading the startup configuration file. DPR-CMI-4007 Unable to perform an active Content Manager election on the local IP node. DPR-DPR-1004 Expecting a BI Bus XML response but got: Apache Tomcat/6.0.35 - Error report

Windows 2008

Diagnosing The Problem

There are several causes for this warning message:
- Incorrect permission granted
- Incorrect path informed

But also a Cryptographic issue (especially if CAM-CRP-xxxx error)

Resolving The Problem

1/ Verify that the user that starts Cognos 10 services has the required permissions.
2/ Check the path sets in Cognos Configuration, especially the externalized reports directory:
Cognos Configuration / Global Configuration / Archive Location File System Root
