Unable to Issue Stocked Tools

Troubleshooting

Problem

A split dialog box comes up while trying to issue stocked tool via the Inventory Usage application.

Symptom

Steps:

1. Go to the Organizations application.

2. Bring up your organization.

3. Go to the "Select Action/Inventory Options/Inventory Defaults".

4. Make sure both options "Negative Current Balance" and
"Negative Available Balance" have been set to allow negative balance and allow negative available balance.

5. Save the changes.

6. Go to the Inventory Usage application.

7. Create a new Usage record:
From the Storeroom field populate with a value eg, "central"
Usage Lines click new row
Usage Type should be Issue

8. In the Item field enter TESTTOOL which should have a current
balance of 0
Quantity field enter 1
Charge information section populate the Work order field
Save the record.
Change status to complete.

9. From the Split Usage Quantity pop up window click ok:
You will be presented with the following system message
"BMXAA7767E - The split line quantity is not equal to the
original requested quantity for one or more lines. Either change the original requested quantity or change the split line quantity".

Resolving The Problem

This is working as designed. When the balance is not enough, the Split Usage Quantity dialog will pop up. If you insert a new row for split line, specify the quantity then click OK, the system will allow a negative value on the balance.

The dialog helps if you have more than one bin, allowing you to split the requested quantity across as many as you have and then choose which one to make negative.
