Problem

Downloading a DB2 Fix Pack from Fix Central using BULK FTP option, fails with the error: Cmn.ServiceProviderError Please download using a different transport method, such as HTTP or Download Director (DDP).

Symptom

An error occurred:
Cmn.ServiceProviderError
Please download using a different transport method, such as HTTP or Download Director (DDP).

Cause

FTP is not available for the following fix packs due to export compliance.

  • DB2 10.1 FP1 or later
  • DB2 9.8 FP4 or later
  • DB2 9.7 FP4 or later
  • DB2 9.5 FP8 or later
  • DB2 9.1 FP10 or later

Resolving The Problem

The error message is caused by the fact that not all DB2 fix packs may be downloaded using the FTP option. Use the HTTP download method to obtain the URL for the fix pack image. Then use the wget command to download the fix pack to your system.

Follow these steps after you have located the fix pack you want to download from fix central.

  1. Copy the fix pack URL

    a. Right Click on the Fix name

    b. Copy Link Location.

  2. From the UNIX command line, use the wget command to download the fix pack

           wget <paste the link copied from Step 1>
