How to manually uninstall InfoSphere Master Data Management Server

Question

Is there a way to manually uninstall/remove InfoSphere Master Data Management (MDM) Server ?

Cause

There may be times when it may be necessary to manually uninstall InfoSphere MDM server:
- The InfoSphere MDM installer/uninstaller might fail and clean up is required before the new install is done
- Changes were done and the InfoSphere MDM Server environment has become unstable and IBM Support has requested a manual uninstall

Answer

Warning: Inadvertently removing entries through the IBM WebSphere Application Server Administrator console can cause your whole WebSphere Application Server installation to become invalid. Ensure you proceed with caution.

Recommendations:
1. Backup your WebSphere Application Server profile
2. Engage your WebSphere Application Server Administrator

Follow steps below to manually remove InfoSphere MDM Server:
1. Stop InfoSphere MDM Server;
2. Log in through the WebSphere Application Server admin console
Default URL
http://localhost:9060/ibm/console/login.do

3. Delete all JMS entries
a) Go to Resources -> JMS
b) Click on Topics and select the correct scope for the InfoSphere MDM Server application server


Select all items and click Delete

c) Click on Topic connection factories and delete all items under MDM scope
d) Click on Queues and delete all items under MDM scope
e) Click on Queue connection factories and delete all items under MDM scope
f) Save changes

4. Delete J2C Authentication Entries
a) Go to Security -> Global security
b) On the right side click on the Java Authentication and Authorization Service -> J2C authentication data link
c) Delete 'MQ-User', 'DB-User-Config' & 'DB-User' entries for the InfoSphere MDM Server instance
d) Save changes

5. Delete Data Sources
a) Go to Resources -> JDBC -> Data sources
b) Ensure you select the proper scope for the InfoSphere MDM Server application server
c) Delete 'DWLConfig' & 'DWLCustomer' Datasource entries
d) Save changes

6. Uninstall InfoSphere MDM Server and UI applications
a) Go to Applications -> Application Types -> WebSphere enterprise applications
b) select MDM UIs & MDM application, click uninstall button
c) Save changes

7. Delete application servers
a) Go to Servers -> Server Types -> WebSphere Application Servers, delete InfoSphere MDM Server and UIs (if running on WebSphere Application Server ND version)
b) Save changes

8. Go to unix file system, delete MDM_HOME, e.g /usr/IBM/MDM
9. Restart Node & dmgr.

Please Note:
You may also need to remove InfoSphere MDM Server tables and related objects (e.g., Trigger) that process is out of the scope of this technote. You will need to engage your Database administrator for this task.
