Problem
When attempting to open a file in Statistics an error 61 is generated: "Error 61 The filename is not valid."
Cause
Windows limits file path lengths to 260 characters.
Resolving The Problem
Windows allows for special paths called "extended length paths" which can be used within Statistics Syntax.
For example instead of:
c:\test.sav
you could specify:
\\?\c:\test.sav
Extended-length paths will not work within Statistics dialog boxes as Statistics will not consider them to be valid paths. An enhancement request has been files to allow extended-length paths to be used within dialogs.
