Question & Answer

Question

What is Fix Central, and how do I use it?

Answer

Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/) allows you to search, select, order, and download fixes to your system with a choice of delivery options. Fixes provide changes to your software, Licensed Internal Code, or machine code that fix known problems, add new function, and keep your system, software, or Hardware Management Console operating efficiently.

Using the Site:

  • Go to the Fix Central web site and login with your IBM Web ID.
  • Choose the appropriate Product Group (typically this will be Information Management for IBM Initiate customers).
  • Choose the appropriate IBM Initiate product from the Product dropdown (typically IBM Initiate Master Data Service).
  • Choose the software version that you wish to search for hotfixes, from the Installed Version dropdown.
  • Click Continue. You will be presented with several options to facilitate your search.

Most users typically choose the option "Browse for fixes". This will by default display all the fixes associated with your chosen software version. Placing a check in the box next to one or more items, then clicking Continue, will trigger the download of the hotfixes. The site will either allow you to download using IBM's failsafe Download Director (java-enabled browser required), or else downloads can be performed normally through your browser using HTTP.
