Question & Answer
Question
Is it possible to relate a new work order to a work order in closed status?
Answer
Yes. There are two possibilities for this scenario:
Solution 1
1. Go to Work Order Tracking.
2. Query for the closed work order using the Advanced Search.
3. From the "Select Action" Menu, select "Create" and then select "Work
Order". This will create a new work and bring you to it. If you move
to the "Related Records" tab you will see the closed work order listed
with it's relationship set to ORIGINATOR. If you move to the closed
work order via the "Go To" option next to the Work Order field, you will
move to the closed work order where you can see that the new work order
is listed as a related record and its relationship is set to FOLLOWUP.
Solution 2
1. Go to the original work and create a duplicate.
2. Return to the original closed work order and from the "Select Action"
menu, select "Edit History Work Order".
3. Go to the Related Records tab and add a new line.
4. Add the new (related) work order's number.
5. Save the record.
