Continued support of the WebSphere Transformation Extender E-mail and FTP Adapters

News

Abstract

IBM® WebSphere® Transformation Extender is continuing to support the WebSphere Transformation Extender E-mail and FTP Adapters; both adapters are no longer deprecated. This is due to their mapping flexibility and widespread usage in existing maps. You can continue to use these adapters as well as the WebSphere Adapter alternatives, WebSphere Adapter for Email and WebSphere Adapter for FTP, which have been available since IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender V8.2.

Content

The WebSphere Transformation Extender E-mail and FTP Adapters continue to function and operate just like they have done in earlier releases.

If you install a new release of Design Studio for any version that is released after 8.2.0.5 or 8.3.0.4, the "E-mail" and "FTP" adapter names in the Source and Target card properties of the map are listed without the "[deprecated]" designation.

If the installation of the new release updates an existing release, the "E-mail" and "FTP" adapter names still include the "[deprecated]" designation. You can manually edit the "adapters.xml" file so that those names no longer include the "[deprecated]" designation.

Although you can continue to use the functionality of the WebSphere Transformation Extender E-mail and FTP Adapters within your maps, functional improvements are targeted to the WebSphere Adapter alternatives. When you construct new maps, consider using the WebSphere Adapters for Email and FTP.
