How to determine the installed Rational Directory Server (RDS) mode

Question & Answer

Question

How can I determine which IBM Rational Directory Server (RDS) mode was installed?

Cause

The installation mode does not appear in the common logs. You installed IBM Rational Directory Server and can not remember what mode was selected (Corporate LDAP mode, Standalone mode, OS authentication mode).

Answer

1. If you have access to RDA

If you have access to the "Rational Directory Administrator" (RDA) web interface, then RDS installation mode is visible directly in the tree structure on the left pane.

2. If you do not have access to RDA

Check the installation log at <rds folder>/xxx_install.log

Note: The log name will vary in your environment.

In the file, look for the section below :

=================================

#Installation Mode

TDS_NON_PROXY=1          --> Standalone
TDS_PROXY=0              --> Corporate
TDS_OS_AUTH=0            --> OS auth
=================================

#-------------------------

Only one of the following 3 lines will have a value of "1".

This will tell you how the IBM Rational Directory Server (RDS) was installed.
