WebSphere Partner Gateway - UPDI: Fixpack installation falling on CheckFixContent

Troubleshooting


Problem

Fixpack installation fails with error: "CWUPI0013E: A configuration action failed. The failing configuration action is: CheckFixContent."

Symptom

Following error is seen in the updatelog.txt:

Cause

The possible cause to see this exception behavior, is likely due to the mismatch between the Update Installer being used for WebSphere Partner Gateway Fix pack application.

Environment


Diagnosing The Problem

Compare the <dmgr and hub>\properties\version\nif\update\config\<install and uninstall>\lib\wpgplugins.jar file, with the one compressed in the WPG UPDI ZIP package downloaded from the web. Please ensure to download the latest of WPG UPDI ZIP package for corresponding WPG fixpack release.

Resolving The Problem


[Preventive action]

It is recommended to always use the latest available WPG Update Installer zip package for corresponding WPG fix pack releases.



[Corrective action]
If file comparison is mismatch, please take the follow procedure to rectify the issue:
1) run the IBM Update Installer to recover the earlier installation/uninstallation failure
2) Close the Update Installer application
3) backup and then directly remove the following file and four subfolders:
    <dmgr and hub>/properties
    <dmgr and hub>/responsefiles
    <dmgr and hub>/META-INF
    <dmgr and hub>/bin/bcgHistory.* 
    <dmgr and hub>/logs/update
4) Follow the WPG UPDI user guide to re-extract files and then configure WPG UPDI environment.
5) Launch the IBM Update Installer and perform WPG maintenance installation.
