Rule Execution Server entry page contains the top frame but no login boxes

Problem

The entry point for Rule Execution Server (RES) is a page that contains two text boxes for username and password respectively. The top frame of this page contains a banner with the product name. The problem is seen when the text boxes for username and password are not displayed.

Symptom

After installing RES, traversing to the login page displays a blank screen in place of the username and password text boxes.

Cause

Incorrect JSF implementation

Resolving The Problem

RES uses the myfaces JSF implementation for rendering the pages. The libraries for myfaces are bundled with the RES application EAR. The above problem is seen when the myfaces JSF classes are not available.

Check if the classloading sequence is set to "Parent last / application first" for RES application. This will ensure that the myfaces JSF classes are loaded instead of other JSF classes like SUN Reference Implementation (RI) that maybe available in the server classpath.
