IBM Rational Change License features compatibility table by version

Question & Answer

Question

Are Rational Change 5.2 license keys backward compatible to earlier versions (such as 5.0, 4.7 , 4.6 etcetera)?

Answer

Rational Change (previously Telelogic Change), has an exception for the license feature which differs with each version of Rational Change, hence the license keys generated for the latest version are not backward compatible.

Each version requires a different license feature included in the license key as follows:

License feature:Applicable version:
Synergy-change base 4.4 through 4.7
Change 5.0
Change-base 5.1 ,5.2 ,5.3

For example, if there are 40 keys available for Rational Change in an account, they need to be spilt accordingly so that environments comprised of multiple versions of Change can fetch the licenses appropriately. As such if there are 12 Change 4.7 users and 28 Change 5.2 users the license must be split accordingly with 12 set for "Synergy-change base" and the remaining 28 set for "Change-base".

Note for Rational Change v5.3

--------------------------------------------

Licenses from Change v5.3 , requires latest version of Rational License Server v8.1.1 as per the release note:
