News

Abstract

New Informix packaging and pricing that offer greater value and lower costs for customers to deploy their solutions on Informix.

Content

On May 25, 2010, IBM announced new Informix packaging and pricing that offer greater value and lower costs for customers to deploy their solutions on Informix. IBM will be withdrawing the Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) Workgroup and Enterprise Editions, replacing them with greater value Informix Growth and Ultimate Editions, respectively.

Most of the feature options available on the IDS Enterprise Edition are now included in the new Informix Ultimate Edition, with only the Informix Storage Optimization Feature (e.g. compression) remaining as an optional for purchase feature. In addition, the Growth Edition now includes a 3-node high-availability cluster that could perform both reads and writes on the secondary nodes. The 3-node cluster can be of any type: High-availability Data Replication (HDR), Remote Secondary Server (RSS), or the newly added Shared Disk Secondary (SDS) for low cost linear scale-out.

For IBM Passport Advantage customers who are current with Software Subscription and Support on Informix products affected by this announced change, we are pleased to inform you that your license entitlements will be automatically migrated to the replacement higher value new editions. The attached letter provides details on the license entitlements migration and explains what you can expect during the interim period until completion of your next Software Subscription and Support renewal.

You can obtain more information about the new Informix editions in www.ibm.com/informix. If you have further questions, please submit them to [email protected] or contact your IBM representative.
