PM Does Not Generate Work Orders for Assets in Not Ready Status

Question & Answer

Question

Can Maintenance Job Plans be performed on Assets in Not Ready Status?

Cause

The Preventive Maintenance Work Order Generation process will not select PMs which are scheduled for Assets whose status is 'Not Ready'; an Asset must be in Operating status to have Work Orders generated for it by either the PMWoGen Cron Task, or from the Generate Work Orders action in the Preventive Maintenance application.

Answer

To create a Work Order for an Asset whose status is other than Operating, the Work Order Tracking application must be used to manually create a Work Order for the Asset. A Job Plan can still be applied, however. When creating the Work Order, use the Job Plan field on the Work Order tab to select which Job Plan shall be used. When the Work Order status gets changed to Approved, all necessary task Work Orders will get created for the Job Plan.
