Troubleshooting
Problem
Administrator would like to install the Controller Financial Analytics Publish (FAP) software on a client device. As part of this, they need to have the JAVA JRE 1.6 version installed. How can they install JRE 1.6 and then configure it for use with the Controller FAP client?
Symptom

Cause
Financial Analytics Publish (FAP) requires JRE 1.6 to be installed and configured. See separate IBM Technote #1414684 for more details.
Resolving The Problem
Part One - Copying the JRE 1.6 files
- Logon to the Controller application server as an administrator
- Locate the folder ...webcontent\ccr. TIP: By default, this is: C:\Program Files\Cognos\c8\webcontent\ccr
- Copy the file 'jre.zip' to a sensible location (for example a network drive)
- Logon to the client device (where you wish to use FAP)
- Create a folder C:\Program Files\ibm\java60\
- Extract the file jre.zip to this folder.
TIP: You should now have a folder structure with folders such as:
- C:\Program Files\IBM\Java60\jre\bin
- C:\Program Files\IBM\Java60\jre\lib
Part Two - Configuring the 'CCR_JAVA_Home' System Variable
- Logon to your client device
- Right-click on ‘My Computer’ and choose ‘properties’
- Inside your “system properties”, select the “Advanced” Tab
- Click the Environment Variables button
- Click the New button in the System Variables group
- Enter CCR_JAVA_Home as the Variable name
- Enter the following path for the Variable value: C:\Program Files\IBM\Java60\jre
- Click the OK button three times
