Installing Adapter Fixes on WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Integration Developer and WebSphere Message Broker/ -Toolkit

Fix Readme

Abstract

The document is a supplement to the Fix Pack README and installation instructions for fixes provided by IBM Support. Given examples are related to the WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software but also apply to other adapters.

Content

The following descriptions should help to install the adapter fixes provided by IBM Support. It does not replace the official README installation instructions that are provided with the regularly published Fix Packs.

WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Application Server

Installation of embedded Adapters (reside within the application)
  1. From the administrative console of the server, click Applications > Enterprise Applications.
  2. Select the enterprise application that uses the adapter to be upgraded.
  3. From the "Enterprise Applications" page, under Modules, click Manage Modules.
  4. On the "Manage Modules" page, select the check box next to the name of the adapter, and then click Update*.
  5. On "Preparing for the application Installation" page check the path to the module in the local file system and select Browse, and specify the path of the new adapter RAR file.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Click Next on the following page and do not change the default settings.
  8. Click Continue on the following page.
  9. On the "Install New Application" page, select Step 4: Summary and click Finish.
  10. Click Save changes to Master Configuration.
  11. Start the application.

* Note: The name of the adapter is starting with "IBM WebSphere Adapter for ...." per default. If it was changed in WebSphere Integration Developer, the name of the adapter can be found in WebSphere Integration Developer Adapter Import/Export Properties -> Binding -> Endpoint configuration -> Resource Adapter -> Resource Adapter Name (name without prefix <ParentModuleName>App).

Note:
For certain WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Application Server versions, note that the names and JNDI names of Activation Specifications and Connection Factories will be replaced by default names. You need to change the names (not the content such as connection information) manually after updating the adapter.

Updating standalone Adapters
Install the adapter as standalone resource (RAR) file:
  1. Login the administrative console.
  2. Click on Resource Adapters > Resource adapters.
  3. Click on Install RAR.
  4. Choose the local path where the RAR file resides
    (for example CWYAP_SAPAdapter_Tx.rar).
  5. Select the node where the adapter should be installed
(for example where the consuming application resides).
  6. Click Save changes to Master Configuration.

WebSphere Integration Developer
  1. Delete the connector project in WebSphere Integration Developer.
    1. Open the Java™ build path for the SCA module and remove the Connector project that is selected on Projects tab.
    2. Open the dependency editor (in the Business Integration View, click on "Dependencies") and remove the connector project.
    3. Delete the connector project from the workspace.
  2. Import the new RAR file and provide the EIS specific dependency files (for example sapjco.jar).
    1. Open the Java build path for the SCA module and select the Connector project that is selected on the Projects tab.
    2. Open the dependency editor (in the Business Integration View, click on "Dependencies") and add the connector project if it is not already present and select Deploy with Module.

WebSphere Message Broker
IBM Support will provide two archive files: one for the broker environment, and the other one for the toolkit.
  1. Extract the "Package_WMB" archive to your local temp directory.
  2. Stop all your broker(s) that are using this install.
  3. Go to the "AdapterPackage" directory: it contains the files CWY<AP>_<adaptertype>Adapter.jar and CWY<BS>_AdapterFoundation.jar.
    1. Backup the existing file CWY<AP>_<adapter type>Adapter.jar and CWY<BS>_AdapterFoundation.jar files.
    2. Copy above files to MQSI_INSTALL_PATH\adapters\prereqs\jar directory , where MQSI_INSTALL_PATH is the WebSphere Message Broker runtime install path (For example: C:\IBM\MQSI\6.1\adapters\prereqs\jars) .
  4. Restart your broker(s).

WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit
  1. Extract the "Package_WMBT" archive to a temporary directory.
  2. Stop your WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit.
    1. Backup the existing . CWY<AP>_<adapter type>Adapter_Tx.rar file.
    2. Copy the above CWY<AP>_SAPAdapter_Tx.rar files toWMBT_INSTALL_PATH\ResourceAdapters\<adapter version (For example: SAP_6.1.0.4_IF02) >\deploy directory , where WMBT_INSTALL_PATH is the WMBT runtime install path (For example: C:\IBM\WMBT61\ResourceAdapters\<adapter version>\deploy).
  3. Restart WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit.
  4. Add the adapter component for the new adapter to your adapter node (for example "SAPRequest").
    1. Click on the node and check the Properties tab
    2. Click on Browse for the adapter component and click on Import/New to add the new RAR file to your workspace.
