Getting a CICS transaction dump

Question & Answer

Question

What is the best way to get force CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) to take a transaction dump?

Answer

Currently there is no CEMT command in CICS Transaction Server for z/OS to cause a CICS transaction dump to be created. However, you can add one of the following commands to your application program to cause a transaction dump to be taken:
These commands allow you to take the dump at a specific point in the application.
If you use the EXEC DUMP TRANSACTION DUMPCODE(xxxx) command and code xxxx is defined in the CICS transaction dump table with SYSDUMP specified, then you will also get a system dump. If there is no DUMPCODE(xxxx) entry in the CICS system dump table, CICS makes a temporary dump table entry using default values for the attributes. This entry is lost the next time you restart CICS.
