Problem
Unable to create an application for the first time. or Unable to synchronize with Analyst
Symptom
Failure to initialise ACE1_72.AceSession (JCE components not installed or not registered?)
Resolving The Problem
Re-register the following 2 files: ace1_72.dll and ace2_72 dll
or
Update DCom.
Steps:1. Locate the following 2 files: ace1_72.dll and ace2_72 dll. By default they will be installed in: \program files\cognos\cer3\bin\.2. Re-register both files using regsvr32.exe
This can be done several ways. The easiest way is:
- Select the file, right-click, and select Open With...
- Browse to the regsvr32.exe in C:\windows\system32\ directory and click OK. This will re-register the .dll file
If issue persists:
1. From the Windows Start menu, click Run, and type dcomcnfg
2. Click OK.
On Windows 2000 the Distributed COM Configuration Properties window appears.
On Windows 2003 or XP, DCom is located under Component Services, Computers, My Computers and the properties.
3. Click the COM Security tab.
4. Under Access Permissions, click Edit Default.
5. Add or verify the following users and groups, giving them Allow Access rights:
Account the COM ID is running under (commonly the local admin account)
IWAM
IUSR
Administrators group to local machine
System
Interactive (optional)
6. Repeat step 5 for Launch Permissions.
7. Click Apply and then try creating the application again
