[IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB]PWS0005 - Error occurred in the i5/OS database server code

Cause

The root cause is determined to be the presence of support for Extended Dynamic Packages in the ODBC DSN. When diagnosing the issue, enabling tracing in the driver was sufficient to introduce a timing overhead which prevented the issue in the majority of cases, but disabling Extended Dynamic Packages was the ultimate successful solution.

Resolving The Problem

Edit the ODBC DSN and disable the Extended Dynamic Package support for the connection used by Cognos 10

Steps:
  1. Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator via Control Panel
  2. Edit the properties of the relevant connection
  3. Click the 'Packages' tab in the driver
  4. Uncheck 'Enable extended dynamic (package) support'
  5. Click OK.
