Problem
A non-administrative user cannot execute a report that contains button, hyperlink or HTML Item objects.
Symptom
The user does not have the capabilities required to execute a report that contains button, hyperlink or HTML Item objects.
Cause
In Cognos Connection, several tools are available to help you administer Cognos. To access the tools, you need traverse permission for the Administration secured feature and execute permissions for the appropriate secured feature. This message occurs, when the user is not allowed for the secured Report Studio features.
Resolving The Problem
In the permissions of the HTML Items In The Report capability, grant execute permissions for the user or group that the user is a member of. The users will also need to have traverse permission on the Report Studio capability.
Steps:
- Open Cognos Connection.
- Click Capabilities and beside the capability 'Report Studio' click Set Properties
- Click the Permissions tab.
- Add the user/group who needs the capability and grant Traverse rights.
- Click OK to return to the Capability screen.
- Click the 'Report Studio' link to see the list of sub-capabilities
- Click 'Set Properties' beside HTML Items In The Report
- Click the Permissions tab.
- Add the user/group who needs the capability and grant at least Execute rights.
- Click OK to return to the Capability screen.
