What impact can upgrading to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 have on my current VS .NET projects under IBM® Rational® ClearCase® (CC) source control?
Answer
With the release of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 upgrading from the previous version of .NET Framework 2.0 will ensure that your VS .NET projects have the latest features and cross-functionality between new technologies when building your applications.

What is the impact?
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 will have very minimal negative impact to the current VS .NET projects you have created under .NET Framework 2.0 when using the ClearCase and VS .NET 2005 Integration. There are no known issues at this time from upgrading your .NET Framework versions within this integration.
In addition, SP1 for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is available for download from Microsoft. There are no known issues at this time with regards to applying SP1 to .NET Framework 3.0 for project development within the ClearCase and VS .NET Integration. Please refer to Microsoft to determine if applying SP1 would be required or beneficial in your VS .NET Development Environment.
Note: When upgrading the .NET Framework version on one client system using the ClearCase and VS .NET 2005 Integration, you will need to ensure that all other client systems/users (working on the same VS .NET projects) are upgraded as well to the latest .NET Framework version being used in your development environment.
If you should experience an issue when attempting to continue working with your VS .NET projects under ClearCase source control after an upgrade to the .NET Framework version, you should contact IBM Rational Client Support before proceeding for further assistance.
