Troubleshooting
Problem
If you are running processes that use a number of input/output (I/O) operations (for example, McAfee Antivirus) while installing WebSphere Integration Developer, you might notice that the installation time is extremely slow.
Cause
Programs that have a large number of I/O operational reads and writes will result in no I/O resource allocation for the WebSphere Integration Developer installer.
Resolving The Problem
To shut down the processes that have a large number of I/O operational reads and writes, follow these steps:
- Launch the Windows Task Manager.
- Select the Processes tab from the menu.
- Select View > Select Columns.
- In the Select Columns dialog, select the check boxes for I/O Reads and I/O Writes. Click OK.
- Back in the Processes tab, click on the I/O Reads column and end the processes that have excessive I/O usage.
- Start the WebSphere Integration Developer install.
For example, if you have McAfee anti-virus (UdaterUI.exe) running, disable it until the installation has finished.
After disabling McAfee, find if a process by the name "mcshield.exe" is running. If it is, shut it down.
