Problem
You are encountering a problem while installing IBM MQ, and you need to collect MustGather data to find a solution.
Environment
Refer to the IBM MQ Read First page for instructions on other operating systems:
Resolving The Problem
Review the MQ z/OS Migration Guide.
If there is still a problem, please answer these questions about the problem and then follow the steps below:
- What is the problem description? Include error messages, if any.
- Is there is an error in the Causer section of one of the following SMP/E installation jobs?
- SMP/E RECEIVE
- SMP/E APPLY
- SMP/E ACCEPT
- Did you use the GROUPEXTEND option as recommended in the MQ Program Directory?
Step 1: Generate Data
Perform the installation, following the directions in Installing IBM MQ for z/OS and in the Program Directory for IBM MQ for z/OS for your release.
Step 2: Collect Data
- Provide a joblog or screen capture of any installation error messages.
- Record the IBM MQ Version/Release/Modification (VRM) and maintenance level you are installing.
- Record the VRM of the operating system and any other products related to the problem.
- Record the previous WebSphere MQ or IBM MQ VRM if you are migrating.
Step 3: Send Data to IBM
- See Exchanging information with IBM Technical Support for instructions to FTP or email data using the IBM Enhanced Customer Data Repository (ECuRep). Use the /toibm/mvs directory for uploading files.
- While the data is transferring, use the IBM Service Request tool or send an email to update your PMR with your description of the problem and of the data you are sending.
- Contact your country representative if you need to speak to an IBM technical support representative, or in the US call 1-800-IBM-SERV. Refer to the IBM Software Support Handbook for more information on working with IBM.
A good description of the problem and the data is the most important information you can provide to IBM. Please do not send data without providing a description!
