Temporary files in /tmp must not be deleted

Troubleshooting


Problem

NSE stops when contorl files in /tmp are deleted by tmpwatch

Cause

tmpwatch deleted control files in /tmp which are needed by Net Search Extender (NSE)

Resolving The Problem

Please do the following to prevent tmpwatch from deleting the files needed by NSE

/usr/sbin/tmpwatch -x /tmp/.X11-unix -x /tmp/.XIM-unix
-x /tmp/.font-unix
-x /tmp/.ICE-unix -x /tmp/.Test-unix
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_INSTANCE_NAME.CACHE.0000
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_INSTANCE_NAME.SCHEDULER.LATCH
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_INSTANCE_NAME.DEMON.MEM
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_INSTANCE_NAME.TEXT.0000
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_INSTANCE_NAME.DEMON.SEM
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_INSTANCE_NAME.TEXT.0000.LATCH
240 /tmp

If you specify type of cache as 'temporary' during create index , then you should also specify
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_DATABASE_NAME.INDEX_ID
and
-x /tmp/UPPERCASE_DATABASE_NAME.INDEX_ID.DATA0
for each index that was created using the type of cache as 'temporary' .
