Broken link warning in JSP when migrating to Rational Application Developer version 7

Troubleshooting

Problem

If you are migrating a Web Project to IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software version 7, you might see a warning under the Web Content folder on the JavaServer Pages (JSP) indicating a broken link.

Cause

This is a known defect tracked as APAR PK40306 in Rational Application Developer version 7.0.

Resolving The Problem

This issue has been resolved in version 7.0.0.3 and later.

WORKAROUND:

You can compile your project such that you will not encounter the broken link warning message by performing the following steps:

  1. Switch to the Project Explorer view
  2. Right-click the Web Project with the broken link warning
  3. Select Properties
  4. Select Web Project Settings
  5. Remove the back slash (/) from the Context Root. For example, if the Context Root you have listed is: "/test", modify it to "test" (removing the back slash)
  6. Select Apply
  7. Select OK
  8. Next, clean and rebuild the project and the warning message is removed from the Problems view:
    1. To clean the project from the main menu: Project > Clean...
    2. To build the project from the main menu: Project > Build All

Note: If Build All is disabled, you should see a check mark next to Build Automatically. Select Build Automatically, and this should remove the check mark and enable the Build All option.
