Question & Answer
Question
I am planning to alter several table spaces to change TRACKMOD to NO. After I alter the table space, does DB2® stop keeping track of changes from that point? Do I need to do anything else? Do I gain any CPU savings from changing TRACKMOD to NO? How can I track and measure these savings ?
Answer
If you alter the table space to TRACKMOD NO, the space map bits do not get set. You do not have to do anything else.
Unless you are experiencing contention on the space map pages (for example, a very high insert rate on multiple machines in a data sharing group), you will probably not see a significant performance difference.
