GSKit 7c prerequisite of xlC.rte v6.0.0.0 on AIX 5.1 must be met for a successful GSKit installation to be reported by the Web server plug-ins V6.0

Troubleshooting


Problem

This technote applies to GSKit 7c, which is both installed by IBM® HTTP Server V6.0 and Web server plug-ins for IBM WebSphere® Application Server V6. The xlCrte v6.0.0.0 or newer must be preinstalled to install GSKit 7c successfully on AIX 5.1 through either installer. AIX® 5.1 xlC.rte v6.0.0.0 or later fileset must be installed for successful Web server plug-ins for IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 install of GSKit 7. The Web server plug-ins for IBM WebSphere Application Server V6's installation time log.txt reports an INSTCONFPARTIALSUCCESS. When you look in PLUGIN_HOME/log/install/masterConfigurationLog.txt, you see that the GSKit ant script failed. Looking at PLUGIN_HOME/logs/install/ installGSKit.log, you see : ************** CONTENTS SNIPPET ***************************************************** SELECTED FILESETS: The following is a list of filesets that you asked to install. They cannot be installed until all of their requisite filesets are also installed. See subsequent lists for details of requisites. gskta.rte 7.0.3.6 # AIX Certificate and SSL Base... MISSING REQUISITES: The following filesets are required by one or more of the selected filesets listed above. They are not currently installed and could not be found on the installation media. xlC.rte v=6 # Base Level Fileset << End of Failure Section >> ************** END OF CONTENTS SNIPPET ******************************************** This results in GSKit 7 not installing and the Web server plug-ins reporting a failure in log.txt.

Cause

GSKit 7c prerequisites xlC.rte 6.0.0.0 or later fileset installed on AIX 5.1 for a successful installation.

AIX 5.1 comes with xlC.rte 5.2.0.0 by default. This fileset does not meet the prerequisites for a successful GSKit installation and, therefore, GSKit does not install if xlC.rte 6.0.0.0 is not present.

Web server plug-ins installation reports that GSKit failed to install successfully.

Resolving The Problem

Install the AIX Fileset.

You have two options for installing the xlC.rte 6.0.0.0 fileset to the AIX 5.1 system.

  1. Install the GSKit manually.
    1. Go to CD_ROOT/GSkit.
    2. Run gskit.sh.
    3. This should report a successful installation of GSKit.

      or

  2. Re-install the Web server plug-ins.
    1. Follow the uninstall instructions to uninstall the Web server plug-ins.
    2. Delete the directory.
    3. Run install again.
    4. Ensure that log.txt states INSTCONFSUCCESS and that installGSKit.log has no errors.
