Why did the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® MVFS remote drive notation change in releases 2002.05.00 patch clearcase_p2002.05.00.NT-7 and later on Windows®?
Cause
Using the Windows NET command (net use), output from the MVFS remote drive used to be denoted as \\view\.
Installing ClearCase releases beyond version 2002.05.00 patch clearcase_p2002.05.00.NT-7, results in the output being \\view.
Note: There is no longer a proceeding backslash.
This change can impact builds that are hard coded with the \\view\ reference.
EXAMPLE:
*ClearCase 2002.05.00 unpatched:
C:\>net use
New connections will be remembered.

Answer
This is expected behavior.
The original return of \\view\ violated the Network Provider Documentation and was fixed in order to conform to proper industry standards.
Any scripts that relied on the \\view\ syntax will need to be modified accordingly.
