IBM Support

Removing the domain name from the CredmapAllowedDomainList

Troubleshooting

Problem

This technote explains how to remove domain name in the []Use this domain to map UNIX user and group names[] from the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® Control Panel Applet on Windows®.

Cause

In the ClearCase Control Panel Applet (Start > Run type: cc.cpl) on the Options tab there is a section named:

Use this domain to map UNIX® (or Linux™) user and group names

This specifies the domain(s) in which user and group names will be verified when UNIX® clients request access to ClearCase services hosted on that Windows host.

Attempts to remove the domain name after it has been set by deleting the name and clicking apply does not work.

How can the name be removed?

Resolving The Problem

To remove the domain name permanently from the control panel, you must remove the entry from the Windows registry.

Note: The following directions require you to edit the registry using the Windows Registry Editor. However, editing the Windows Registry incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Before proceeding review the Microsoft article, 256986 - Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry.

1. Click Start > Run type: regedit
2. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Atria\ClearCase\CurrentVersion

3. Click the Key CredmapAlloweDdomainList and clear the name value of the domain.

The ClearCase Control Panel will now display no domains in the list.
