IBM Support

Unable to find a registry entry for storage path error upon removing a view storage location

Troubleshooting

Problem

This technote explains why using the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® []cleartool unregister -viewstorage (or -vobstorage)[] command fails when the Storage Configuration wizard was used to create a VOB or view storage location.

Cause

An attempt to use the cleartool unregister -viewstorage or -vobstorage command to remove a view storage location that was created with the Storage Configuration wizard fails with the following error:

cleartool: Error: Unable to find a registry entry for storage path {view storage path}

Other storage areas registered with cleartool register -viewstorage or -vobstorage can be removed with this command.

Resolving The Problem

1. List the storage location names using the "cleartool lsstgloc" command:

C:\>cleartool lsstgloc
  vobs    \\host1\ccstg_e\VOBs
  views   \\host1\ccstg_e\views

2. Use "cleartool rmstgloc" to remove these storage locations.

C:\>cleartool rmstgloc vobs

cleartool: Warning: The storage location has only been removed from the ClearCase registry.  You must manually remove the physical storage location directory.
