How do I trace DB2 deadlocks ?

Question & Answer

Question

How do I trace DB2 deadlocks ?

Answer

The DB2® deadlock events are traced by IFCID 172 that is traced as part of Statistics Trace Class(3). From the trace records you can generate deadlock reports by using the following DB2 PM batch control cards :

LOCKING TRACE LEVEL(DEADLOCK)
for a trace of each deadlock occurrence.
LOCKING REPORT LEVEL(DEADLOCK)
    for a deadlock report.

For a list of records by IFCID, for each class see the description of the START TRACE command in the DB2 Command Reference at the DB2 for z/OS® and OS/390® library Web page.
