Error description

  • When running Public Cloud Gateway (PCG), an error is received.

The /var/log/pcg/pcg.log indcates the error:

Local fix

  • The problem is caused by an invalid instance in Softlayer
region. After this instance is removed, PCG can be restarted
and it works now.

Problem conclusion

  • This particular null pointer exception occurs when the guest VM
is ICO provisioned guest VM and the host name does not start
with SL.

Included a null check to avoid the null pointer exception.
