Error description
If you ICO installation plan includes the use of symbolic links to redirect install code to certain locations on disk, please reconsider using the "mount -o bind ..." option instead. In particular when sybolic link is used during CS3 install, after IWD is installed, the IWD service will fail to start and the ICO installer will then fail.
Local fix
Use the following solution. Replace all symbolic links with "mount -o bind": 1. Create destination directories: # mkdir /drouter # mkdir -p /opt/app/workload/sco/drouter /drouter 2. Mount: # mount -o bind /opt/app/workload/sco/drouter /drouter This mount will be removed with server shutdown. After being sure IWD works properly system administrator can add a permanent mount to /etc/fstab.
Problem summary
The customer was able to install CS1 and CS2 but CS3 failed at the end in the IWD part. The ds log and chef stacktrace files were shared for analysis
Problem conclusion
Customer used a symbolic link for CS3 environment which was not supported as per IWD. To solve this all the symbolic links were replaced with mount -o bind. Link:- http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS4KMC_2.4.0.2/com .ibm.sco.doc_2.4/t_inst_iwd_non_default_directories.html?lang=en
