APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Installing MQ v8 to a symlinked location(e.g./opt/mqm8 ->
  /mqpkg/mqm80)
  fails with errors AMQ6290 and AMQ8101.
  * Attempt installing MQ v8 to a symlinked location
   (e.g. /opt/mqm8 -> /mqpkg/mqm80).
    #rpm ivh --prefix /opt/mq8 ...
  * The following errors will be reported.
    ERROR: Return code "1" from amqicdir for "-s -f", output is:
           AMQ6290: Unknown installation '/mqpkg/mqm80' detected.
    ERROR: Return code "71" from setmqinst for "-r -p /opt/mqm8",
  output is:
           AMQ8101: WebSphere MQ error (40806007) has occurred.
    AMQ6290: Unknown installation '/mqpkg/mqm80' detected.
  * After the failed installation, running MQ commands fail with
  the following error.
    #/opt/mqm8/bin/dspmqver
     AMQ6290: Unknown installation '/mqpkg/mqm80' detected.
     AMQ7047: An unexpected error was encountered by a command.
  Reason code is 0.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  This problem occurred because MQ was incorrectly using the real
  path instead of the symbolic link when determining the
  installation path.
  

Problem conclusion

• MQ has been modified to correctly determine the installation
  location when using symbolic link for the installation path.
