Error description

  • In Rational Developer for System z (RDz) and Rational Developer
for AIX and Linux (RDAL), when a link to a folder from the
Remote Systems view is deleted, the contents of that folder is
also deleted. This issue has been reproduced with Rational
Developer for zEnterprise version 8.5 and Rational Developer for
 AIX and Linux version 9.0

Problem summary

* RDz and RDAL users who delete symbolic links on the UNIX     *
* file system.                                                 *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
* When a user deletes a symbolic link via RSE, the actual      *
* remote resource is unexpectedly deleted.                     *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
Deletion of symbolic links should only result in a removed
symbolic link, not removing the actual resource.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix has been provided in the 9.1.1 update so that only the
symbolic link is deleted.
