APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Running the the script configureDSCluster or addNodeToDSCluster
on Solaris may fail with:

[wsadmin] Out of Memory
[wsadmin] You might want to try the -mx flag to increase heap
size
[wsadmin] Java Result: 255

or seems to hang.

The wsadmin.traceout shows an OutOfMemoryError, eventually
"java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space".

Local fix

  • Increase the default amounts of memory allocated to the heap &
permanent objects for the JVM running the wsadmin tool.

To do so, add the following arguments to the wsadmin ANT task
in the configureDSRulesND.ant or addNodeToDSCluster.ant found
under <WAS_HOME>\profiles\<Dmgr profile>\bin\rules (adjust Xmx
value as appropriate):

<jvmarg value="-XX:MaxPermSize=256m"/>
<jvmarg value="-Xmx2G"/>
