APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using the Rule Designer decision table editor, when cells in a
first column are merged, it is possible for cells in the column
on the right to also be merged if they have the same empty
    content each.
This is inconsistent with the behavior when the cells on the
right have identical but non-empty values, in which case no
merge occurs in the column on the right of the column being
    merged.

Local fix

  • Use "insert new row" to recreate separate cells below the cell
that was erroneously merge, and copy/paste the rows on the
right of the erroneously merged cells, into the newly created
    rows.

Problem summary

  • if the cells are empty they are not present in the model and
therefore the merge does make them disappear.

Problem conclusion

  • The code is modified to create empty cells to the right of
themerged cells so that they will not be merged.

Temporary fix
