Error description

  • The product installer does not generates an
".eclipseproduct"file when installing Rule Designer/Eclipse.
This file is a simple tag for packaging purpose which
identifies the kind of Eclipse-based product installed in a
directory.￡ So third party installers are entitled to look for
this file to confirm it is installing in a true Eclipse
installation.

Local fix

  • * the simplest: create the file by hand under the root
installation directory with the following content:
"name=Eclipse Platform
id=org.eclipse.platform
version=3.6.2"
This should have no negative impact on any future fixpack
installation.
 * or, reinstall Rule Designer over an installation of
Eclipse from an external source, either with the normal ODM
installer (which supports that scenario) or by installing the
ODM plugins from within Eclipse with the procedure documented
in "Decision Server V8.0 > Decision Server Rules > Configuring
Decision Server Rules > Configuring Rule Designer in Eclipse"
