PM98045: AFTER INSTALLING RAAZ 6.1.0.1, RAAZ DOES NOT FINISH STARTING IN SOME ENVIRONMENTS.

Error description

In some environments, you may upgrade from RAAz 6.1.0.0, which
was working, to RAAz 6.1.0.1, and starting WAS may indicate
that RAAz isn't starting no matter how long one waits.

Messages like the following may appear in the WAS log:

+BBOO0222I: WSVR0200I: Starting application: wsaa
+BBOO0222I: WSVR0204I: Application: wsaa  Application build
level:
Unknown

but the wsaa appliation never finishes starting.

Local fix

none, except to install test fix available from IBM Support, or
install RAAz 6.1.0.2 when available.

Problem summary

During servlet initialization, there are many SELECT * queries
with OPTIMIZE FOR 1 ROW, which are used to validate the columns
in the result.  These queries were taking large amounts of
time, causing timeout conditions.

Problem conclusion

RAAz code was changed to add WHERE 1=0 to the SELECT * queries
so DB2 knows not to return any results, which improves
performance significantly.

Temporary fix
