APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After removing a queue manager from a cluster, there are some
    cluster auto-defined channel entries in the cache left in an
    inconsistent state, which can not be deleted by MQSC delete
    command. There should be code to clean them up.

    Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): cluster

Local fix

  • When the Repos flag is not being turned on, REFRESH CLUSTER(*);
    When the Repos flag is on, requires qmgr to be demoted first
    to become a partial repository, Then, REFRESH CLUSTER(*)
    REPOS(YES)

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Objects in the cluster cache relating *
    * to cluster sender channels, cluster *
    * queues or cluster topics are not *
    *                      deleted.                                *
    * The objects are missing cluster *
    * entries, which is only visible when *
    *                      looking at a dump.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    If the cache gets corrupted, and entries are left without
    associated cluster records, the objects will only be removed if
    a REFRESH CLUSTER command is issued. If the object is a channel
    to another full repository, this will not be cleared out unless
    the queue manager is demoted to a partial repository, and the
    REFRESH CLUSTER command is issued with the REPOS(YES) option.

Problem conclusion

  • A service parm was added to remove inconsistent objects from the
    cache during the initialisation done at startup.
    The service parm should only be used under guidance of IBM
    support.
