Error description

  • While installing Worklight Server 6.0, the creation of the MySQL
    database for Application Center fails.
    The "Database creation progress" panel shows the resulting
    output:
    Granting user test for database APPCNTR ... failed:
    Cannot connect to database 'APPCNTR' as user '...' even after
    granting access:
    com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLSyntaxErrorException:
    Unknown database 'APPCNTR'

Local fix

  • After the error occurs: Press "Back" twice. Enter the superuser
    credentials instead of the desired credentials. Press "Next".
    Enter the superuser password again. Press "Next"; the database
    is now created. Press "Back" twice. Enter the desired
    credentials. Press "Next" three times and continue the
    installation.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * Although the database doesn't exist, the "Create database" *
    * panel shows the text "Preparing to grant user ... for the *
    * database APPCNTR." - as if the database already existed. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * -                                                            *
    ****************************************************************
    The logic which decides whether to create the database or the
    user account is not correct when both the database and the user
    account don't exist.

Problem conclusion

  • The code now creates both the database and the user account when
    both are nonexistent.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for fixpack 6.0.0.2.
