APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Excessive Close_Waits on Content Manager.  The customer is
    seeing hundreds of these netstat CLOSE_WAIT port status states.
    Observed similar behavior in house Cognos 10.2.1 single server
    installation of only Content Manager service enabled. New socket
    connections get opened all the time from / to dynamic ports. In
    my environment, where socket wait time is set for seconds, the
    number of connections to / from the dispatcher port grows up to
    85-87 within minutes and then stays stable. There is also a
    number of connections in CLOSE_WAIT state.  Tested in 10.1.1
    environment. The number of connections grows and gets stable
    around 21-23. No connections in CLOSE_WAIT state.
