PM95101: In RDz 8.0.3.4, Show Differences with SCLM members checked out returns no response, returns errors when checked in/ reopened

Error description

  • 1) When SCLM members are checked out, the Show Differences
feature does not respond that the action is not possible.  There
is no compare tool, error message, or response to say the action
is not possible.
2) When SCLM members are checked in, the Show Differences
feature is displayed and functions correctly, but when closed
and then an attempt to reopen the compare tool with the same
checked in members is made, an error occurs:

Unable to open editor. unknown editor ID:
org.eclipse.compare.compareEditor'

Problem summary


    

  • 1) When SCLM members are checked out, the Show Differences
feature does not respond that the action is not possible.  There
is no compare tool, error message, or response to say the action
is not possible.
2) When SCLM members are checked in, the Show Differences
feature is displayed and functions correctly, but when closed
and then an attempt to reopen the compare tool with the same
checked in members is made, an error occurs:

Problem conclusion


    

  • Show differences was not working properly with checked out
files, causing the action to fail and other assorted problems.

The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
IBM Rational Developer for System z V8.0.3.6 Fix Pack which
is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
