APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When installing RAAz 6.0.0.11 remote components
(RAAz-6.0.0.11-WindowsInstall.zip) on a Japanese language
Windows machine, error "aesparsc.dll not found"
occurs during the install phase in the Installation Manager and
installation fails.
The message also shows the following information:
"Exception occurred while trying to copy locale-specifc files:
"Program
Files\IBM\Rational Asset Analyzer\ddl\ja_JP\aesparsc.dll"
(specified
path not found).

This problem does not occur when installing the same software
on an English language machine.

A similar problem may also occur using the similar RAAz 6.1.0.1
Remote Components code.

Local fix

  • none, unless changing to English language on a machine is an
option.

Problem summary

  • When the remote component for RAAz is installed, the
LocalizationAction.run() method tried to copy DLLs from the ddl
directory to the bin directory.  The ddl directory is not
included in RAAz because there is no local database on the
distributed (Windows or AIX) machine.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was changed to not attempt the copy of the DLLs.
