Error description

• Abstract:
  
  Attempts to use odc:tabbedPanel component fail to display
  Chinese characters properly when using MyFaces 2.0.
  
  Error Description:
  
  Create a JSF page with the odc:tabbedPanel component, using the
  MyFaces library, and publish the application to a WebSphere
  Application Server v7.0, 8.0, or 8.5.  When run you will notice
  that the application will contained garbled DBCS text.
  
  Local fix:
  
  There is no known workaround at this time.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• odc: tabbedPanel does not rendered correctly characters using
  BIG5 encoding like Chinese, Japanese, etc.
  

Problem conclusion

• We convert the BIG5 chars to their representation in UNICODE.
  
  The fix for this APAR is included in Rational Application
  Developer v8.0.4.3.
